one week

July 30, 2007

only one week left to go. but there doesn’t seem to be this sense of urgency. should there be? i’ll leave the packing to the last minute so that i can re-live the panic of things not fitting, bag too heavy, the usual..

the weekend was spent with family. saturday with my mom’s side of the family, cause it was my cousin’s 21st birthday. sunday with my dad’s side of the family, cause we had a popiah party.

popiah is like a spring roll. kinda like that. the filling includes turnip, carrots, belly pork, shrimps, small squares of fried beancurd. you have to roll the popiah yourself. my favourite one is the one that’s cooked by my paternal grandma. she even does the skin(the stuff you roll the filling in) herself. yumness!

asides from all the food related activites, i also tried on the various sarongs (bottom) and kebayas (top) my grandma, aunty had. i am now in possession of a sarong that is older (27yrs) than me. this sarong wrapping/tying business is not as easy as it looks. trust me. mine drops after i take a few steps, and it’s measured steps, not my usual big strides. more practice, and there might be hope yet.
